Вокально-инструментальный дуэт, пользовавшийся большой популярностью в 1960-е. Пол Саймон [Simon, Paul Frederick] (р. 1941) и Арт(ур) Гарфанкел [Garfunkel, Art (Arthur)] (р. 1941) вместе росли в г. Форест-Хилле, шт. Нью-Йорк, и начали выступать дуэтом еще в школе. Начинали с песен, написанных Саймоном в стиле кантри [country and western music], позднее в стиле рок [rock music]. Выпущенный в 1966 альбом "Звуки молчания" ["Sounds of Silence"] сразу стал хитом, а песня "Миссис Робинсон" ["Mrs. Robinson"] (1967) к кинофильму "Выпускник" ["The Graduate"] принесла им всемирную славу. Альбом 1970 "Мост над взбаламученными водами" ["Bridge Over Troubled Water"] разошелся тиражом более 8 млн. Дуэт распался в 1970. А. Гарфанкел сыграл несколько ролей в кино, а П. Саймон продолжал выпускать музыкальные записи. В 1981 они вновь дали совместный концерт в Центральном парке [Central Park] г. Нью-Йорка. В последующие годы Саймон вдохновлялся южноафриканскими и бразильскими мотивами
